MODULAR SOLAR-POWERED TELEMEDICINE DEVICE

This first-generation (V1) prototype of a modular solar-powered telemedicine device is designed to bring basic health screening and remote medical support to underserved communities. This prototype is for research and pilot testing only and is not currently approved as a clinical medical device. A provisional patent has been filed to protect the intellectual property. It integrates connected devices, IoMT systems, and telemedicine features, with AI-assisted triage planned for future research development.

What sets this device apart is its modular architecture. The core unit is built to be easily upgraded, allowing future integration of optional medical modules such as a portable single-lead ECG and a digital stethoscope. These expansions are intentionally designed for controlled clinical use and would only be implemented under appropriate supervision and ethical approval. The modular design also enables maintenance and upgrades without replacing the entire system, making it cost-effective and sustainable.

The platform supports telemedicine consultations by securely transmitting vital signs to remote clinicians, enabling real-time guidance and remote triage. AI-assisted triage is planned for future versions, but any AI output will be used only as a decision-support tool under clinician oversight and will not replace professional diagnosis. This prototype represents a scalable, ethical step toward accessible healthcare, demonstrating how renewable energy, modular design, and telemedicine can together improve medical access in low-resource regions.
