AWARD-WINNING PERFORMER - JONATHAN WENG

LONDON, Vienna, PARIS, NEW YORK, LOS ANGELES, PERUGIA (ITALY) AND taipei, TAIWAN

Jonathan has participated in numerous international and national  piano competitions and has been grateful to receive invitations to perform at Winners' Recitals in renowned concert halls across Canada, Paris, London, Los Angeles, New York, Perugia (Italy), Vienna, Tokyo, and Taipei.  His deep passion for music continues to inspire his performances as he strives to balance artistic growth with academic pursuits.  Beyond music, Jonathan has been actively involved in charitable fundraising concerts from a young age, supporting Canadian healthcare institutions and assisting those in need.  Beyond his passion for music, his humanitarian experiences in Africa have deepened his understanding of global health challenges. By applying his EMT training and biomedical knowledge to support underserved communities, he aims to make a meaningful difference and positive impact. These experiences continue to shape his perspective, reinforcing a lifelong commitment to learning, compassion, and purposeful action through the arts and in service.

  • Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI) – Young Artists Piano Program Participant


2024

  • The winner at Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra Piano Competition
  • Platinum Award, Euro Elite International Music Competition.


2023

  • Composed and Produced an audio  album featuring original orchestral works and several singles
  • First prize winner of the Steinway & Sons Young Artist Piano Competition
  • Winner of the Young Artist Piano Concerto Competition – Recipient of scholarships from the Vancouver Academy of Music and performed with an orchestra in 2023 
  • Fourth  Degree Diploma in the international category at the Golden Key International Music Festival – Music Composition Competition, for the piece "Reverie" (New York & Vienna).


2022

  • Winner of the Gifted Artists Concerto Gala and performed with an orchestra
  • Grand Prize Winner, Canadian International Music Competition.
  • Winner of the Phyllis Salter Piano Competition at the Vancouver Academy of Music, receiving scholarships. 


2021

  • Winner of the Vancouver Symphoney Orchestra Future of Excellence Concerto Competiton and invited to perform as a guest pianist for two seasons with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra after winning the competition in the Senior Division. 


2020

  • Associate Diploma of The Royal Conservatory of Music (ARCT) – Piano Performance. 


 2019

  • Second Degree Diploma, Golden Key International Music Festival – Music Composition Competition, Elementary International Category for "The Cold Winter Days" (New York & Vienna).
  • Third Prize, Rising Stars Grand Prix International Music Competition – Junior category.
  • Winner, VSO School of Music Festival for Piano – Romantic 11 – Senior category.
  • Second Place, Concours International de Piano Ville de Gagny, France – Young Talents category.
  • Second Place, Asian Cup International Music Competition – Classical piano category.
  • First Prize, London Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition - Performed at the winner’s recital hall at Royal Albert Hall, London
  • First Prize, Paris Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition – Performed at the winner’s recital hall at the Philharmonie de Paris.
  • First Place, VSO School of Music Festival for Piano – Senior category.


2018

  • Selected Soloist performing with Orchestra Sinfonica di Perugia at Music Perugia, Italy.
  • National Finalist - Canadian Music Competition, Score: 93 (1 point below third place)
  • Second Place, American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition – Performed at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, NY.
  • First Place, Vienna International Music Competition - Performed at the winner’s recital hall at Golden Hall in Vienna 
  • Royal Consetvatory of Music: Awarded Certificate of Excellence for achieving First Class Honours with Distinction in Level 10 Piano for the year of 2018 


2017

  • First Place winner at the Crescendo International Music Competition, recipient of a scholarship, Carnegie Hall Debut:  International Debut performance at Carnegie Hall, NY.
  • Fourth Place, Concours International de Piano Ville de Gagny, France – Young Talents category. 
  • Royal Consetvatory of Music:  Awarded Certificate of Excellence for achieving First Class Honours with Distinction in Level 8 Piano for the year of 2017


2016

  • First Place, Richmond Music Festival.
  • First Place, Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival  
  • First Place, Student Performers' Guild Festival, British Columbia Registered Music Teachers' Association.
  • Royal Consetvatory of Music:  Achieved National Gold Medal for Level 6 piano for the year of 2016


2015

  • Won many 1st place awards and received trophies including "The Most Promising Pianist Award" trophy  at Student Performers' Guild Festival, British Columbia Registered Music Teachers' Association

  • 1st place winner of Duet at Student Performers Guild Festival
